New Editorial Card Webpart Now Available
Microsoft has released a new webpart in SharePoint and it is absolutely my favorite webpart. The Editorial Card webpart allows for a new way to visually display what I call “Highlight Content”. I love this webpart inside of a three-column layout.
Add and Configure the Editorial Card Layout
Add the webpart by creating a new page. Then add a section. Add the webpart by selecting the grey + and then searching or scrolling in the toolbox and selecting Editorial Card.

Select which layout you would like to use:
- Image Overlay
- Text Block
- Split

You can now fill in the content for the card:
- Category or section tag
- Header
- Description
- Call to action button
- Image background
To change or edit the card layout or fill in the content easily, select the properties icon for the webpart and open the properties pane.
Webpart Properties
- You can select a color or an image background
- A dark or light colored overlay
- The alignment of the text content on the image both from area to height

As I mentioned before, one of my favorite ways to use this web part is in a three-column section. It is even better when you use a background image on section to help the cards stand out. One of my hopes for the future is that this can become a layout for news or as an alternative to quick links.
