New Page with Copilot (Preview)

If you’ve ever stared at a blank SharePoint page wondering where to start, you’re going to love this. Microsoft is rolling out a new feature—currently in preview—called Page with Copilot. It brings the power of AI right into your page-building process, helping you go from “just an idea” to “published and polished” in record time.

Let’s break down what it is, how it works, and why content creators and SharePoint users everywhere should be excited.

What is “Page with Copilot”?

Page with Copilot is an AI-assisted experience that helps you create SharePoint pages quickly and intelligently. When you select “Page with Copilot,” you’re tapping into a streamlined content generation flow powered by Microsoft’s AI—similar to what you’ve seen in tools like Word, PowerPoint, or Teams.

Instead of starting with a blank page, Copilot helps you build out a structured, relevant, and styled page based on a prompt you provide. It can draft text, suggest web parts, pull in visuals, and even help shape the layout—all while staying within your organization’s brand and tone.

One of the main challenges with content creators is getting the content and then thinking about the layout and what information belongs on the page. Copilot has the ability to help with the initial step with the content creation and allow for you to be the steward of the content versus the author and designer at the same time.

How It Works (Currently in Preview)

Here’s what the Page with Copilot experience looks like:

Start a New Page with Copilot
From your SharePoint site, choose the “Page with Copilot (preview)” option instead of a standard blank page.

Enter a Prompt or select from a template
Copilot will ask you what kind of page you want to create. For example:
“Create a team update page summarizing our Q1 results and upcoming project milestones.”

You will select from a template of pre-created options or use the prompt

Enter a prompt into the prompt input box.

Make sure to select what type of page you want to create. Either a news page or a regular content page from the toggle.

I choose to create as a private draft so that I can make adjustments to the content before final publishing. This is important especially if you are working in a content-sensitive site or have other authors.

Watch Copilot Do the Heavy Lifting
Based on your prompt, Copilot will generate a full draft page. This can include:

  • Page title and section headers
  • Paragraph text with summaries
  • Suggested web parts (text, images, links, etc.)
  • Page layout and formatting

Copilot will create a page and fill with sections and content. Remember that AI-generated content may be incorrect. It is important to double check all content that is generated. To start this step, you need to select the “keep it”. to begin editing on your own

Customize & Publish
You’re still in control—edit, rearrange, or swap out anything Copilot creates. Once you’re happy, hit publish and share it with your team.

Why It’s important

This feature is a huge step forward for content creators, comms teams, and site owners. Here’s why:

Speeds up page creation: No more starting from scratch. Just prompt and go.

Leverages your data: Copilot can reference Microsoft Graph and your org’s content to generate relevant material.

Smart layout suggestions: It doesn’t just write text—it builds a page that looks good, too.

Improves writing flow: Whether you need a starting point or just a better way to say something, Copilot helps you get unstuck.

Stays on-brand: Pages are generated in line with your organization’s style and SharePoint themes.

Who Should Try It?

This feature is especially helpful for:

  • Internal communicators sharing updates, news, or policies
  • Project managers documenting timelines or recaps
  • HR or onboarding teams building resource hubs
  • Anyone who feels stuck staring at a blank SharePoint page

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

Since Page with Copilot is still in preview, it might not be available in all tenants just yet. And while the AI is pretty good, it’s not perfect—so you’ll still want to review content for accuracy, tone, and nuance before publishing.

That said, it’s already a powerful productivity booster—and only getting better as Microsoft continues to refine it.

Final Thoughts

Page with Copilot brings AI-powered creation directly into SharePoint, helping users create rich, meaningful content without wasting time on formatting, layout, or writer’s block. If you’ve been looking for a smarter way to create pages, this feature is definitely worth trying out during the preview phase.

Stay tuned as Microsoft continues to roll out enhancements—and in the meantime, give Page with Copilot a spin and see how it transforms your workflow.
